Of all the Himalayan meadows and flower valleys, nothing compares to Garhwal's unique rock garden, the Valley of Flowers, full of the most fascinating, fabulous, and rich variety of flowering herbs. According to the legends, the Valley of Flowers has been associated spiritually with the name of 'Hanuman',  the legendary hero of Ramayana, the great Indian epic.

First bought to limelight in 1931 when Frank Smythe, a British naturalist and mountaineer, who after scaling Kamet peak, stumbled upon it by chance. Later on, Smythe , assisted by  England’s eminent botanist R.L.Holdsworth, explored the valley extensively. Now, to restore the natural balance and conserve this natural heritage, the Valley of Flowers and its environs  are declared as Pushpavati National Park.

ITINERARY

(One can start from Delhi by Overnight Train  Mussoorie  Express Reaching Haridwar, early morning. 

DAY O1. RISHIKESH \ JOSHIMATH  DRIVE: 9-10 HRS.             OVERNIGHT HOTEL.

Early morning drive to Joshimath. The enitre drive is along the Alaknanda river. Lunch enroute at Rudraparayag. Arrive Joshimath and transfer to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 02. JOSHIMATH\GHANGARIA DRIVE & TREK 2 HRS 5-6  HRS.OVERNIGHT CAMP

Early morning after breakfast drive to Govindghat, a small hamlet situated on the confluence of Alaknanda and roaring Laxman Ganga. Arrive and commence trek to Ghangaria. Lunch enroute. Arrive Ghangaria and camp on the banks of Laxman Ganga. Dinner and overnight camp

DAY 03. GHANGARIA\ VALLEY OF FLOWERS   TREK: 5-6  HRS. OVERNIGHT CAMP

Morning after breakfast  start trek to Valley of Flowers. The first part of the trek is through thick forest along the Pushpavati river. Later we trek in the open meadow. Arrive and explore the area. After encountering rare Flowers e.g Brahmkamal, Blue poppy, Potentilla, and hundreds of others we trace our steps back to the base camp, Ghangaria. Dinner and overnight camp.

DAY 04. GHANGARIA\ HEMKUND LAKE           TREK: 6-7  HRS.   OVERNIGHT CAMP

Morning after breakfast we trek to Hemkund, one of the finest high latitude  lakes in the area, and pilgrimage for Sikhs and Hindus as well. The entire trek today is uphill till we reach Hemkund. Explore the area and trace your steps back to the base camp. One can encounter some of the flowers on this stretch as well. Dinner and overnight camp.

DAY 05. GHANGARIA\ GOVINDGHA/JOSHIMATH TREK :5-6  HRS. DRIVE :2 HRS O/N HOTEL.

Morning after breakfast trek down Govindghat. Lunch enroute. Arrive and commence drive to Joshimath. Dinner and overnight  hotel.

DAY 06.JOSHIMATH/RISHIKESH. DRIVE: 9-10  HRS.

Morning after breakfast drive to Rishikesh. Arrive Rishikesh . Tour terminates upon arrival at Rishikesh.

One can stay overnight Rishikesh or take overnight train for Delhi.

ALTITUDE: JOSHIMATH: , GOVINDGHAT:1828 MTS.,GHANGARIA:3200 MTS., VALLEY OF FLOWERS:3650 MTS.

Hemkund 4320 mts.

BEST TIME: End June to mid  SEPTEMBER.                                                                        Grade: Moderate                

The Fixed Departure trips are inclusive of:

1. Twin sharing accommodation at Road heads in Guest Houses / Tourist Bungalows/hotels during the entire trip. (As we give round the year business to the hotels we get very god discounted rates which are finally passed on to the clients , as we calculate the cost of the treks on discounted rates.)

2. All meals hygienically cooked and served by our specially trained staff for westerners. (We emphasize a lot on food and all our cooks are specially trained to provide hygienic food to westerners).

3. Transportation from Rishikesh to Rishikesh. (We have our own brand new Toyota Jeeps & mini buses, with handpicked drivers who have been trained to drive westerners on mountain roads).

4. Services of English speaking professional trekking guide, cook, and camp staff during the entire trip. (All our trekking Guides & camp staff are from this area only and know the area very well. All trekking Guides and most of the camp staff have dome First Aid and CPR courses and do refreshing courses every year)

5. All tourist taxes during the travel.

6. Visit to all important temples and places during the entire trip.

7. Camping equipment on the trek e.g. tents, mattresses, sleeping bags etc. (We have brand new spacious tents and other trekking equipment however we recommend clients to bring personal sleeping bags). 

8. Portage of food, camping & kitchen equipment on the trek.

9. Portage of personal baggage on trek. (Only in Deluxe options)

10.Trekking permits and camping fees on the treks.

Cost does not Include:

1. Items of personal nature e.g. table drinks, telephones, laundry, insurance, evacuation, damages /claims, & medical services and services in unforeseen circumstances.

2. Riding ponies on trek. ( Can be arranged on actual by the guide on the trip)

3. Any other trip other than specified above.

The above Cost is :

1. Subject to Government service taxes which are 3.09%   at present.

2. Non commissionable. 

3. Valid for the Trekking season for 2008 from February to December.
